Walking with the Ancestors in Joy and Healing. Ashanti Harris, Tramway
A Tramway Performance Now Commission with support from Creative Scotland & The Work Room.An interactive, reparative reading, guiding the audience on an imagined procession in joy and healing. Shifting between collaged narratives centered in Black histories, descriptions of real and imagined spaces, movement provocations and guided body awareness exercises, this performance ritual invites the audience to consider many layers of narratives which intersect an overlap with their own experiences and to move with them, inviting joyful possibilities for collective healing. I was commissioned to read one of the two voices of the reading. Supporting audiences through the performance ritual with verbal provocations and invitations.

A carnival of overlapping histories, Ashanti Harris, Platform, Easterhouse
In June 2023, volunteers from Glasgow North East residents were invited to exchange stories with Ashanti and work together to create a plaster cast of their face. The project celebrates the cultures and family histories of the Caribbean, Africa and Asia - and explores how these have entangled with Scotland's own.
I was commissioned to musically and therapuetically facilitate the opening of the exhibition with the creation of a live sound healing bath, which I called music as medicine. Using skills developed from my Sound Healing Certification course. I created a soundscape, using foley and found sounds from landscapes across the continents of Africa, Caribbean, Asia and Scotland. And then performed a live sound bath with instruments from across the world, including Koshi Chimes, handmade at the foot of the Pyrenees, percussion instruments from Africa, hand-beaten Himalayan Bowls and more.

Svikiro, Sekai Machache, Mount Stuart House, Isle of Bute
I was commissioned to consult, compose and sound design the sound score for this beautiful film.
Sekai Machache is a Zimbabwean-Scottish visual artist and curator based in Glasgow. Machache works with a wide range of media including photography. She is the recipient of the 2020 RSA Morton Award and is an artist in residence with the Talbot Rice Residency Programme 2021-2023. Utilising academic, visual, and embodied research at Mount Stuart and in its collections and archives: Machache counters the ongoing erasure of a complex oracular culture that is profoundly connected to envisioning the future. This series of short films will support experimental and innovative storytelling, suggesting alternative readings of past and present, and proffering a model for a decolonised future archive built on collaboration.
